The micro satellite technology has been viewed as highly strategic due to its lower cost of development, ease of mass production and cheaper launch vehicle. In collaboration with its strategic partner, JMRSL-Chiba U, Bhimasena R&D teams envision various technology development for implementing CP-SAR onboard a micro satellite. The basic experiments include:

-Scattering mechanism of circularly polarized microwave: scattering mechanism from vegetations, cryosphere, soil and rocks, desert, etc.

-Interferometry:

  • Linear vs Circular Polarization Interferometry SAR
  • DEM extraction by CP wave

-Axial ratio image (ARI) : Vegetation, geologic, cryosphere etc mapping by using ARI

The envisioned applications would cover Disaster monitoring, Cryosphere monitoring, Ocean monitoring and Landcover mapping
